We live in an ageing society and whilst a Will will say what you would like to happen when you die, Lasting Powers of Attorney documents are needed to appoint those who would look after your welfare and finances should you lose the capacity to look after yourself. These documents normally appoint family and friends as ‘Attorneys’ and they are then legally entitled to look after you should you become too frail to take care of your own affairs. Should you lose capacity without having got these essential documents the process becomes much more expensive and time consuming for those who love you most to take care of you.
